URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The City of Urbana will celebrate Juneteenth with flavor, music, and culture as it hosts the Soulful Streets: A Juneteenth Food Truck Festival on Tuesday, June 17 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Illinois Street City Lot, located at the corner of Vine and Illinois Streets.

The festival, held in honor of Juneteenth, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. Organizers say the event is designed to celebrate Black heritage and foster community through food, music, and cultural expression.

Attendees can look forward to a curated lineup of local food trucks serving a range of cuisines, including soul food staples, Caribbean flavors, vegan options, and desserts. In addition to the culinary offerings, the event will feature live performances, spoken word, and tables hosted by local artists, entrepreneurs, and community organizations.

City officials encourage residents to attend, noting the importance of celebrating Juneteenth not just as a historical milestone but as an ongoing commitment to equity, culture, and unity in Urbana and beyond.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, reusable water bottles, and an appetite.
