ST. JOSEPH, IL (Chambana Today) – Volleyball coaches Jill Lubinski and Megan Wheatley of St. Joseph Middle School are rallying the community to honor the memory of Trooper Corey Thompsen, who was killed in the line of duty last October at just 28 years old.
Thompsen, a St. Joseph alum, was struck and killed while finishing a traffic enforcement detail. In his memory, his family is establishing a scholarship for a high school senior pursuing a career in law enforcement.
To support the cause, Lubinski and Wheatley have organized a special fundraiser night during a home volleyball match on February 24. Attendees can contribute by purchasing baked goods, raffle tickets, or participating in a silent auction. Doors open at 4:15 p.m.
