EAST CENTRAL ILLINOIS (Chambana Today) – The National Weather Service (NWS) reports that a low-pressure system, known as a “wake low,” has formed over East Central Illinois this afternoon.
This specific weather event is leading to wind speeds of up to 65 mph in certain areas of Piatt, Champaign, Vermilion, Douglas, Coles, Edgar, and Clark counties. Take cover now! Strong wind gusts could cause harm to trees and electrical wires. There could also be occasional power failures.
The NWS says that the event should end around 6:15 p.m. CDT.
