CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) – What started as a passion for creativity and craftsmanship has evolved into a mission to build homes—and communities—that feel personal, intentional, and lasting.

Kendra Taylor of Taylor Construction & Design joined local real estate agent Hayley Siefert on a recent episode of Ask the Pros to share how she and her husband, Wes, have been redefining what new construction can look like across Champaign-Urbana—and now, in Danville.

No Two Homes Alike

From the outset, Taylor Construction has stood out by ensuring no two homes look alike—even within the same development. That’s especially evident in Urbana’s Stone Creek neighborhood, where the company has built over 20 unique homes, each reflecting a different style.

“It takes time, but it’s worth it,” said Kendra. “We want each home to feel special, and we want our buyers to feel like their home is truly theirs.”

The homes at 1905 and 1909 S. Stone Creek Blvd. are prime examples. Priced at $425,000 and $415,000, respectively, they offer open-concept floor plans, cathedral ceilings, and thoughtful design elements—like arched built-ins, wood-toned cabinetry, and personalized exteriors ranging from creamy French country to deep green traditional.

Each house includes flexible spaces, like offices or playrooms, and buyers who come in early have the opportunity to choose finishes to match their tastes.

Design with Purpose

Kendra’s design passion started young and was encouraged by her family, who gave her the freedom to experiment in her own living spaces. That experience has translated into a sharp eye for mixing timeless elements with current trends, creating homes that feel stylish without being short-lived.

“I’ve always been creative,” she said. “As Wes and I moved to different places, I kept using design as a way to explore what worked and what felt like home.”

Expanding to Danville: Quality at Every Price Point

Taylor Construction is now bringing that same philosophy to Danville’s Renaissance District, where the company has broken ground on its first group of homes—priced starting at $149,900. Each home will be uniquely designed, from exterior colors to interior finishes.

What won’t change? The quality. “Regardless of the price point, we’re using the same crews, the same level of craftsmanship,” said Wes. “We’re committed to building homes that we can stand behind—whether it’s $150,000 or $500,000.”

Each Danville home will include the company’s one-year builder warranty, and many will feature bold, creative details to match the artistic vibe of the neighborhood. Buyers will find themselves near local gems like the Art League, the fire station, and Slotted Spoon restaurant.

Tax Incentives Sweeten the Deal

Adding to the appeal in Danville is a 5-year, 50% property tax abatement for all new construction in the Renaissance District. Seniors (65+) may also qualify for additional exemptions and freezes—potentially saving thousands over the first few years of homeownership.

“These homes are a perfect fit for anyone looking to downsize, travel more, or keep roots here affordably,” said Siefert.
