DANVILLE, IL (Chambana Today) — A woman was hospitalized after being stabbed during a street altercation Thursday afternoon in Danville, and three juvenile girls have been taken into custody in connection with the incident, according to the Danville Police Department.

Police said the incident occurred around 3:53 p.m. on March 12 near the intersection of East Main Street and Griffin Street. An officer on routine patrol observed several individuals engaged in a physical altercation in the roadway and intervened.

During the investigation, officers determined that a 34-year-old woman had sustained a stab wound during the fight. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is currently listed in stable condition.

Authorities reported that three juveniles were arrested following the incident. A 13-year-old girl was charged with aggravated assault and mob action. A 14-year-old girl was charged with aggravated battery causing great bodily harm and mob action. A 17-year-old girl faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and mob action.

Police have not released the names of the juveniles due to their ages.
