MAHOMET, IL (Chambana Today) – A shooting in Mahomet on Wednesday night left three people dead. Police were called to the scene on S. Riverside Ct. around 9:40 p.m. after reports of multiple gunshot victims. Upon arrival, officers found three individuals with life-threatening injuries.
Police immediately began administering first aid until emergency responders from Cornbelt Fire and Carle EMS arrived. One victim was declared dead at the scene, while the other two were transported to Carle Hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries.
Authorities have identified and located a suspect in connection with the shooting.
The Mahomet Police Department are being assisted by the Illinois State Police. The Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and the Champaign County Coroner’s Office also responded to the incident.
