PAXTON, IL (Chambana Today) – Two Central Illinois men were arrested Wednesday morning in Paxton on cocaine-related charges following a police raid. Authorities say 31-year-old Zonte L. Portis of Paxton and 47-year-old Armoane L. Larkins of Rantoul were taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance—between 15 and 100 grams of cocaine, a Class 1 felony. Portis faces an additional Class X felony for possession with intent to deliver.

The arrests followed a 6:57 a.m. search of a home on East Chestnut Street, conducted by Paxton Police with assistance from the Ford County Sheriff’s Office and Gibson City Police. Officers recovered 22 grams of crack cocaine, a digital scale, drug-manufacturing equipment, and $928 in cash from Portis.

The investigation remains ongoing.
