CHAMPAIGN – In order to facilitate deliveries at Gies Memorial Stadium, the University of Illinois will close one westbound lane of Kirby Avenue between First Street and Fourth Street.
The closure will begin on Tuesday, October 7, and will reopen on Saturday, October 12, 2025. During the closure, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane in the area. This will be in the days leading up to the Illinois football team’s home game against top opponent Ohio State, which will kick off at 11 a.m. on the 12th.
The City of Champaign appreciates the cooperation of travelers in the area and encourages caution when traveling through work zones.
