CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign County Chamber of Commerce will hold a ribbon cutting on Tuesday, April 15 from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. to celebrate the grand opening of the Ujima Retreat Center, located at 4303 S. High Cross Road in rural Urbana.
An open house and tours will follow the ceremony, and the public is invited to attend.
Set on 7.5 serene acres and featuring a 2.5-acre pond, Ujima offers guests a peaceful, natural environment for wellness and connection. The retreat includes an outdoor spa, hammock lounge, pavilion, fire pit, meeting spaces, and a cabin. Visitors can enjoy activities like kayaking, stargazing, fishing, and guided wellness practices.
Co-owners Shanelle and Banio, both experienced in social work and youth advocacy, founded Ujima as a place for healing, reflection, and community support. Their vision is rooted in helping individuals care for themselves and others through restorative experiences.
