CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – Starting in the 2024-25 school year, Unit 4 will limit the use of cell phones and other personal devices during classes. District leadership says their goal is to create a learning environment that is focused, distraction-free, and safe for all students.

The Unit 4 Board of Education and administrators believe that limiting the use of cell phones and personal electronic devices will provide our students with the greatest opportunity for social, emotional, and academic success. Several states have passed laws to ban cell phone use in schools, and nearby districts have implemented similar policies.

This initiative is designed to help students develop better concentration, reduce anxiety, and enhance their overall school experience.  Each student at Unit 4 is provided with a Chromebook for schoolwork, making a cell phone unnecessary for learning purposes.
