URBANA, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The City of Urbana will begin its annual Christmas tree collection for residents the week of January 12-16, 2026, coinciding with each resident’s regular U-Cycle collection day. Residents are reminded to ensure that their trees are free of decorations, ornaments, garland, lights, stands, and bags before placing them curbside for collection.

To ensure trees are picked up, they must be placed curbside and visible from the street the day before the scheduled U-Cycle collection day, as collection crews begin early in the morning.

For those who prefer an alternative disposal option, residents can bring their trees to the Urbana Landscape Recycling Center, located at 1210 E. University Ave. Trees will be accepted for free disposal until the end of February 2026, with a limit of 3 trees per household.

For more details or questions about the collection process, residents can contact U-Cycle at 217-384-2302. For additional information about city services, visit the City of Urbana’s official website at urbanail.gov.
