URBANA, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY)- The Urbana Fire Department responded to the 119 w. Water Street, Urbana for smoke coming from the roof as a result of workers causing a small fire that they thought was out.
Three Engine’s, a Ladder, and a Command officer were dispatched. Units arrived on the scene approx. 2 minutes later and found light smoke from the roof. Upon investigation it was found that there was fire in the walls and it had entered the structure.
The alarm was upgraded to a Working fire. The building was cleared and crews opened walls and ceilings to extinguish the small fire. Due to the quick actions damage was kept to a minimum.
Damage estimates are unavailable at this time, and the cause is being investigated.
