URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – Urbana Fire Department (UFD) reports a fire Sunday, July 7, 2024, at a home located at 506 Glover Ave. D in Urbana.
Around 8:40 p.m., the UFD was called to address smoke emanating from a residence, the source of which was unknown. Initially, four engines, one ladder, and a command officer were dispatched. The fire units reached the scene in roughly four and a half minutes.
On arrival, firefighters observed smoke issuing from the house. The situation was declared a working fire, which led to the mobilization of Chief officers. The first responders entered the home, located the fire on the second floor, and quickly extinguished it.
There were no individuals in the building at the time of the fire, and no injuries have been reported. The fire was fully extinguished and under control within 40 minutes of the fire units’ arrival. The utilities were disconnected, and the occupants were notified that the home was uninhabitable. An evaluation of the damage is underway, and the cause of the fire is currently being investigated.
