URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – A 65-year-old Urbana man is in custody after allegedly firing a gun during a road rage incident and later crashing his vehicle during a police pursuit.
James White was arrested Tuesday afternoon following a multi-scene incident that began around 2:59 p.m. when Champaign Police responded to reports of a firearm being discharged during a traffic dispute near Bloomington Road and North Prospect Avenue.
Police say White pointed and fired a weapon at another driver. No one was struck.
Officers tracked the suspect vehicle, attempting a traffic stop at Green Street and First Street. The driver fled, leading to a crash just eight minutes later at Lincoln Avenue and Green Street in Urbana.
Two people, including White, were transported to a hospital. After being evaluated, White was arrested on multiple charges including:
- Aggravated discharge of a firearm
- Aggravated unlawful use of a weapon
- Aggravated DUI
- Aggravated fleeing and eluding
