URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) — The City of Urbana is inviting artists and community groups to apply for funding through its annual Urbana Arts Grants Program.
Applications for the 2026 cycle will open Monday, March 23, with up to $90,000 available to support creative projects that enhance the city’s cultural landscape.
The program, administered through the city’s Arts and Culture Program, funds publicly accessible projects across a range of disciplines, including visual art, music, performance, film, creative writing and emerging media.
Grant opportunities are divided into multiple tiers. Tier I grants, ranging from $2,000 to $3,499, are geared toward individual artists and small-scale projects. Tier II grants, ranging from $3,500 to $4,999, support mid-sized initiatives and collaborations. Additional funding is available through Arts in the Schools grants, which focus on arts education programs within Urbana schools.
Officials say funded projects must take place within Urbana and be accessible to the public, aligning with the program’s goal of expanding access to the arts and strengthening community engagement.
Priority will be given to projects that increase public participation, reflect the diversity of the community, foster partnerships and contribute to a vibrant creative environment.
Applications must be submitted online through the Neighborly Portal, with additional details available on the city’s website.
