URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Police Department, in partnership with the Illinois Liquor Commission, recently completed two alcohol compliance operations aimed at ensuring local businesses adhere to regulations prohibiting the sale of alcohol to minors.

Held in January and February 2025, the compliance checks involved 26 local establishments, with police officers and Illinois Liquor Commission agents conducting inspections to verify the proper age verification for alcohol purchases. Four violations were discovered, leading to civil ordinance violations being issued to the individuals responsible for selling alcohol to minors. In addition, the Illinois Liquor Commission issued citations to the businesses that failed the compliance checks.

The 22 establishments that passed the checks were commended for their efforts in maintaining responsible business practices by verifying the ages of their customers before making alcohol sales. This successful outcome demonstrates a strong commitment to protecting the community’s youth and promoting public safety.

These enforcement efforts emphasize the Urbana Police Department’s commitment to preventing underage drinking and encouraging businesses to prioritize safety and legal compliance. For more information or inquiries, please contact the Urbana Police Department directly.
