URBANA, IL (Chambana Today) – The Urbana Board of Education has approved the appointment of Miniona Menuokuou Lungalang as the new Assistant Principal of Thomas Paine Elementary School, effective August 6.

Lungalang steps into her first administrative role after 14 years of service as an educator. Originally from Nagaland, a northeastern state in India, she has taught in various school districts across the Midwest since moving to the United States. Most recently, she worked as an instructional interventionist in Champaign.

“I am extremely grateful for this opportunity to directly serve and positively impact the life outcomes of our most important stakeholders — the scholars, or ‘Tiger Cubs,’ of Thomas Paine, their families, their teachers, and staff,” said Lungalang.

Thomas Paine Elementary is part of Urbana School District 116, which continues to prioritize equity, student growth, and community engagement in all leadership appointments.
