MATTOON, IL — A commercial vehicle fire has shut down the right lane and right shoulder of I-57 southbound at milepost 187, prompting an emergency response and traffic delays in the area.
Illinois State Police Troop 7 responded to the scene along with Mattoon Fire Department, IDOT, and tow services. Crews are actively working to extinguish the fire, clear the roadway, and provide traffic control and lane coverage.
Officials are urging drivers to use extreme caution when traveling through the area.
No injuries have been reported at this time. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
