Our Weekend Roundup is designed to keep you informed about family-friendly events happening in the Champaign-Urbana area over the weekend. Here is our curated list of free and low-cost events this weekend:

All Generations Kickapoo Rail Trail Ride: Friday, August 2, at Urbana Walmart KRT Trailhead, at 5:45 p.m. This ride meets biweekly on Fridays at the Urbana Walmart KRT trailhead. Feel free to ride out and back or only a little bit – it’s up to you. This is a perfect way to get the family outside, together, for some exercise. In addition to bikes, bring child trailers, tag-a-longs, jogging strollers, or training wheels. Bring your own water or snacks.

Summer Prairie Skies: Friday, August 2, at the William M. Staerkel Planetarium at Parkland College. Immerse yourself and your family in the night sky with our indoor live-narrated stargazing tour. It’s a perfect way to learn about astronomy and hear stories of ancient legends. This event is affordable, informative, and fun. Order your tickets in advance at tickets.parkland.edu.

Yoga in the Park: Saturday, August 3, from 9 a.m. – 10 a.m. Meet at the garden pavilion. All ages and abilities are encouraged to attend. Bring your own yoga mat, or there will be mats available to borrow.

Back to School Bash hosted by Wayne Strong Foundation: Saturday, August 3, from 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. This event will offer free school supplies, food, music, and family fun. Free haircuts will be provided by A Cut Above the Rest Barber Academy.
