CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The official start of summer is just a few weeks away. The weather is in the comfortable upper-70s during the day, and with just a few bursts of showers or storms anticipated, it’s an ideal weekend to get out in it.

EQUUS Gateway Film & Fine Arts Fest “Veterans” Mustang Summit: Friday-Sunday, June 7-9, from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Gateway Family Services of Illinois, 7757 US Hwy 136 in Potomoc. The event is free, however they would appreciate your donation. Watch as four untouched yearling mustangs begin their gentling process. You can learn more about how horses continue to help humans find healing during various panels and demonstrations. On Sunday, when the event ends, the mustangs will be available for adoption. There will also be documentaries from EQUUS Film Festival.
Mahomet Soda Fest: Saturday, June 8, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. at 503 E. Main St. in downtown Mahomet. This is a FREE event for the whole family. Mahomet Soda Fest boasts more than 100 flavors of soda for taste testing. They will also have live music, vendors, and food trucks plus FREE activities for the little ones including a trackless train.
Guided Tour of Idea Garden: Saturday, June 8, from 10-11:30 a.m. at 2000 Lincoln Ave. in Urbana. FREE Enjoy a guided tour of Champaign County Master Gardeners’ Idea Garden. No registration is required. You’re asked to meet at the west entrance of the garden, near the parking lot. Remember, there is free parking on Saturday at the meters on Lincoln Ave. The Idea Garden is located on the campus of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in the Arboretum. The tour will be canceled in the case of rain.
Market on I-74: Sunday, June 9, from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at the Farmer City Fairgrounds on Farmer City American Legion Rt. 150 in Farmer City. Admission is $3 per person; children under 12 enter for FREE..
