CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (Chambana Today) — The City of Champaign announced that the final two weeks of yard waste collection, originally scheduled to begin Monday, December 1, will be postponed while Public Works crews continue responding to significant snow and ice conditions.

The Champaign area received approximately eight inches of snow on Saturday, prompting an extended focus on clearing roads and ensuring safe travel routes. While primary routes have largely been addressed, officials report that additional work remains, especially with more snowfall predicted throughout the week and into the weekend.

Once snow and ice operations are complete, crews will transition back to bagged yard waste collection. The City advises residents to leave their bags at the curb only when collection resumes and to watch for updated service announcements.
