CHAMPAIGN, IL (CHAMBANA TODAY) The Illinois men’s and No. 4 women’s track and field teams completed the 64th annual Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday (April 20). Redshirt junior Rose Yeboah won the high jump elite section with the program’s second-highest jump of 1,87m (6-1 1/2).

Junior and school record holder Bara Sajdokova shared the win with Yeboah since they both cleared 1.87m (6-1 1/2) on their first attempt.

The women’s 4x100m relay team of freshmen Asia Thomas and Sophia Beckmon, juniors Tacoria Humphrey and Jessica McDowell placed sixth in the elite section with the program’s second-fastest time (43.78). Each race they sprint closer to the 1996 program record of 43.74 seconds.

Junior Tori Thomas earned bronze in the pole vault elite section vaulting over 4.30m (14-1 1/4); her teammate sophomore Mia Morello placed fifth, 4.15m (13-7 1/4).

Freshman Elizabeth Ndudi leapt the third-best mark in today’s long jump elite final, 6.39m (20-11 3/4). Junior Kam Garret also placed third in the high jump elite finals hoping over 2.13m (6-11 3/4). Senior Tyler Sudduth shot putted 19.33m (63-5) in the elite finals which was good enough for third place.

Three more Illini captured fifth in their respective elite sections today: graduate student Amber Simpson threw 65.43m (214-8) in the hammer throw, freshman Cody Johnston vaulted 5.52m (18-1 1/4) in the pole vault and senior Robert Williams clocked in at 51.07 seconds in the 400m hurdles.

The Orange and Blue track and field crews return to action next week on April 25-27 for the Drake Relays.
