An investigation began after a student sought medical attention and was found to have consumed cannabis edibles. Urbana Police School Resource Officers in collaboration with Urbana School District officials began their investigation. They then identified and apprehended the suspect and he was transported Champaign County Juvenile Detention Center, where he is being held pending future court proceedings.

The Morrisey Park parkrun held its first event on May 4, 2024, and will be celebrating its one year anniversary on May 10. Morrisey Park has had a total of 47 events with 884 finishes from 266 participants.
