The Urbana Police Department will provide updates on two deadly shootings that occurred over the weekend, claiming three lives, including that of a seven-year-old child.
Afterwards, they headed to the checkout area and split up. Two of the men distracted an employee and the other man left without being confronted. The suspects then fled with the TV valued at $200.00.

A report from the Urbana Police Department has provided further insight into a tragic home invasion over the weekend that left two people dead, including 7-year-old Darnell “DJ” Wicks. One of the key revelations from the report is that 43-year-old Melvin Braxton fatally shot Wicks during a domestic incident on Saturday night in the 900 block of Lanore Drive.
The Experience Champaign-Urbana Foundation is inviting the public to explore the region’s rich history with its inaugural Champaign County African American Heritage Trail bus tour, scheduled for Monday, February 17, from 10 a.m. to noon. This bus tour will take participants through significant historical landmarks in Champaign and Urbana, celebrating the contributions and achievements of the African American community.
“I don’t necessarily think that our use of the restraint chair in any way, shape or form has been bad,” Superintendent Karee Voges said. “I would tell every single person that’s in this field the importance of tracking and the importance of documenting that.”
The suspension, effective Tuesday, February 11 prohibits the exhibition and sale at swap meets, exhibitions, flea markets, and auction markets. This move is intended to prevent the spread of the disease which has been detected in flocks in Illinois.
The training is free of charge and open to everyone but interested individuals must register in advance here. The event was kickstarted by 45-year-old Christie Clinic surgeon Rafael Ruggieri who suffered a cardiac arrest and was saved by his son, Isaac, who provided high-quality CPR.
