The Champaign and Urbana Police Departments were repacking food at the Eastern Illinois Foodbank at noon today, as part of the “Protect & Feed” campaign. This collaboration was part of a Giving Tuesday initiative aimed at raising meals for families in need through the Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF).
The patrols took place from November 27 to December 1 and had the ISP focus on enforcing impaired driving, occupant restraint, speeding, and distracted driving violations for the national “Click It or Ticket” campaign.
TLAW will kick off with a Mayoral ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, December 7 at noon at the northeast corner of Main and Race Street. The even will continue throughout the holiday season to celebrate Urbana’s rich culture and diversity as well as promoting small businesses.
The CPD encourages drivers to slow down and take their time when moving throughout the Champaign. The slippery conditions make the braking time necessary to stop a vehicle significantly increased. So far, over 20 vehicle crashes have been reported in Champaign and few have even resulted in transport to area hospitals and tows.
