Parkland College hosting free lunar eclipse telescope viewing

The earth’s shadow completely covers the moon, making it look much dimmer and red. Planetarium staff, members of the Champaign-Urbana Astronomical Society, and the Parkland Astronomy Club will set up several telescopes outside the planetarium so visitors can look at the Moon. The eclipse date also happens to be Pi Day.

City of Urbana population increases by nearly 2,500

“From a financial standpoint, it helps ensure that our community receives its fair share of state and federal funding distributed on a per capita basis. It also is important that we have accurate demographic and housing data in order to plan for programs and services. Finally, we were able to count residents in several housing complexes that had been built since 2020. We are sincerely grateful to all the residents who responded to Census 2025. Parkland College Board of Trustees approve tuition and fee increase

On top of this, there will be book fees to select courses on the approved 2025–2026 course fee schedule. Trustees also resolved to adopt a Douglas County property assessment agreement. This agreement sets a valuation for a brownfield property in Douglas County, making it an attractive option for a company planning to establish a $750 million corn wet milling and biofermentation manufacturing plant.

UIUC announces new division to oversee the Illinois Arboretum

Head of DPNS and Executive Director, Peterson will draw inspiration from the Arboretum’s 2021 Master plan, focusing on improving iconic physical spaces, creating connections between those spaces, growing partnerships, and increasing communication with the community and donors. While many Arboretum activities will continue, Peterson explains that the community must be patient as the division navigates a new facility.
