
Cunningham Children’s Home bids farewell to Chaplain Anne Fuquay after two years of dedicated service. Her final Chapel Service was marked by a packed house and a symbolic walk through the labyrinth, a tradition for youth transitioning from Cunningham. Fuquay’s compassionate presence and spiritual leadership have left a lasting impact on the youth.

Unity High School senior Molly Baxley has been named one of eight recipients of the 2025 Conservation Achievement Scholarship by the Illinois Conservation Foundation (ICF), a statewide honor recognizing exceptional high school students for their dedication to protecting Illinois’ natural resources.

Not all animals in shelters are able to find permanent homes, but the Citizens Animal Rescue and Adoption (CARA) animal shelter, does their best to facilitate that. Those pets who don’t find their “fur-ever” home outside the facility, will be cared for and will have a place to call home for as long as it takes.

OSF HealthCare has announced a major transformation aimed at strengthening care delivery across east central Illinois. As part of the changes, OSF HealthCare Heart of Mary Medical Center in Urbana and OSF HealthCare Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville will merge into a single hospital operating across two campuses, effective January 1, 2026, pending regulatory approval.

All proceeds raised will directly benefit the animals housed at the shelter. Support is provided through spay and neuter, heartworm treatment, medical/emergency financial support, food and supplies as needed, rescue transportation, adoption events, and education.

Champaign Fire Chief Andy Quarnstrom announced Wednesday that he will retire from his position in July, marking the end of a nearly 28-year career with the Champaign Fire Department. Quarnstrom’s final day with the department will be July 14.
