The pursuit took place on Sunday, May 18, around noon. Warren County reported that the driver refused to stop even after posting speeds over 100 miles per hour. The pursuit went through the City of Danville for around 10 minutes and then proceeded east on US Route 150 outside the city limits. The vehicle eventually crashed attempting to take the I-74 westbound entry ramp at the 210-mile marker.

The officers then found 41-year-old Daniel Kist of Danville nine blocks from the scene. Kist was then arrested and taken to the Public Safety Building to be questioned. Daniel Kist was booked and charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and is being held at the Vermilion County jail pending a pre-trial hearing.

“As a graduate of the University of Illinois and a longtime Champaign resident, I’m proud to see the future of our campus taking shape,” said State Senator Paul Faraci (D-Champaign). “The new Illini Hall will be a hub for innovation in data science and a great resource for students and faculty across disciplines. Investing in projects like this – and the renovation of Altgeld Hall – shows a strong commitment to the university’s growth and its long-term impact.”

“We are delighted to host our fifth ‘Around the Block’ exhibition,” gallery director Lisa Costello said. “It is always a pleasure to be able to host such a community-oriented event where regional artists can exhibit their work and family, friends, and neighbors can visit the gallery and view the artwork in person. The exhibition includes works by artists from our community and some alumni. It is a survey of artists living in our area and I was pleased Josh agreed to be our juror.”

“Children are easily attracted to water, and even turning your attention away from a child near water for a moment to answer a phone call or tend to a child in the next room can result in dire consequences,” said Illinois DCFS Director Heidi E. Mueller. “Drownings happen quickly and silently in as little as one inch of water. We ask all caregivers to be responsible for watching their children no matter how well that child can swim as not all drownings involve waving, yelling and splashing. Please remember to be water wise and supervise your children if you are near water this summer.”

With the 2024-2025 High School sports season close to an end (baseball, softball, soccer, among a few others still competing) I thought it necessary to send out an ode to the local high school sports teams and a shout out to those who made the season possible.
