The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that the newly constructed ramp from northbound Interstate 57 to westbound I-74 will open to traffic tonight, May 5, at approximately 9 p.m. The ramp is a key component of the ongoing I-57/74 interchange reconstruction project aimed at modernizing one of Central Illinois’ busiest corridors.
The Urbana Park District invites the community to celebrate the next phase of the Kickapoo Rail Trail (KRT) with a groundbreaking ceremony on Wednesday, May 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. The ceremony will be held at Weaver Park, located at 2205 Main Street in Urbana.
The celebration involves parents, students, and teachers all biking and rolling to school. It is celebrated annually nationwide and builds on the popularity of Walk & Roll to School Day, which is celebrated across the country – and the world – each October. In recognition of World Menstrual Hygiene Day on May 28, the Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) is launching its latest period product drive to support individuals facing period poverty in Champaign County. Beginning May 5, 2025, the campaign will collect essential menstrual hygiene products for distribution to those in need.
