Champaign County Coroner Laurie Brauer is well aware of the compassion and sensitivity needed in her job – and the spotlight on her as the first female coroner in county history. Urbana Police officers responded to a report of an armed subject on the 1000 block of South Smith Road on Saturday, March 15. Upon further investigation, officers discovered that a man had threatened another individual with a firearm. During the investigation, a loaded pistol was recovered. The 30-year-old Urbana man, a convicted felon who is prohibited from possessing a firearm, was arrested.

The exhibition is scheduled from Monday, June 9 to Wednesday, July 24, 2025. Costello and Kelly White, Executive Director of 40 North, Champaign County Arts Council, will give opening remarks at 6:15 p.m. during the reception on Thursday, June 12, 2025. There will also be a closing reception from 5:30–7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24.

On Monday, March 17th, MIX 94.5 and Rewind 92.5 celebrated a unique St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Downtown Rantoul. The event featured The World’s Shortest St. Patrick’s Day Parade.
The prom will be an evening of music dancing and food on April 5. The event will be held at the Turtle Run Banquet Center located at 332 East Liberty Lane, Danville, IL from 7:00 – 11:00 p.m. The prom includes a DJ, professional photographer, and a silent auction. Prom attire is encouraged but not required.

The Vermilion County Animal Shelter, in partnership with the Vermilion County Animal Shelter Foundation, is hosting a special adult prom on April 5, to raise funds for the animals in their care.
