Former Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley (GCMS) eighth-grade teacher and coach, Robert Dinkins, was arrested Thursday in Macon, Georgia on six counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. The charges stem from an ongoing investigation launched earlier this year following allegations of inappropriate conduct with a student.
Two Central Illinois men were arrested Wednesday morning in Paxton on cocaine-related charges following a police raid. Authorities say 31-year-old Zonte L. Portis of Paxton and 47-year-old Armoane L. Larkins of Rantoul were taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance—between 15 and 100 grams of cocaine, a Class 1 felony. Portis faces an additional Class X felony for possession with intent to deliver.
