Paxton police are searching for two suspects involved in an armed robbery that occurred Friday evening at Paxton Variety Liquors. At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Dec. 27, two men entered the liquor store, brandished firearms, and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
A man was stabbed in an incident on Saturday morning near the 800 block of Crescent Drive. The Champaign Police Department responded to a report of an armed suspect at approximately 11:28 a.m. Upon arrival, officers discovered the male victim, who had suffered a stab wound.
A routine traffic stop early Friday morning led to the arrest of a rural Oakwood man on multiple charges, including illegal possession of a loaded handgun.
Upon arrival on the scene, the other party swiftly left the scene. A 35-year-old Champaign man was fatally shot late Saturday night in Danville, Illinois. Joseph Jones, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was pronounced dead at the scene near the intersection of Collett and Williams streets, according to the Vermilion County Coroner’s Office.
