According to Coroner Laurie Brauer, Diaz Mendez was pronounced dead at Carle Hospital at 11:05 p.m. Saturday.

Now, the Sheriff’s Office is asking for renewed assistance from the community.

The truck was driven by a 39-year-old man from Foosland, who was traveling eastbound on East Ford Harris Road at the time of the incident.
According to Urbana Police, the driver of a semi-truck was making a left turn when he failed to yield to oncoming northbound traffic.

One motorcyclist sustained fatal injuries and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

Authorities are currently reconstructing the incident, which has required a complete closure of the northbound lanes.

This enforcement effort was funded by federal traffic safety dollars administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

The victim was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in serious condition, authorities said.
