An 18-year-old male is dead following a fatal shooting Friday night in Urbana.

Upon investigation, witnesses reported a subject with a firearm and the Vermillion County State’s Attorney’s Office provided a search warrant.

Compton found not to have the necessary license to possess and carry a firearm in Illinois and was charged for that violation. Officers then arrested Compton and took him to the Public Safety Building where he was booked for Aggravated Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Wanted on a Warrant, and Driving While License suspended.
