
Twenty-eight-year-old Illinois State Police trooper Corey Thompson died on Friday afternoon after being involved in a traffic crash while on duty.
“Over 3,000 people annually are killed in crashes involving distracted driving,” according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Distracted Driving Enforcement Program patrols will be active in Champaign, Vermillion, and Macon counties during November.

Robert Musson, 59, formerly of Danville, was sentenced to life in prison on six counts of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child, all class X felonies.
The OREP initiative is part of a broader campaign funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation aimed at enforcing the seat belt laws through more police coverage. The Illinois State Police (ISP) welcomed 35 new troopers today from Cadet Class 148. The graduation ceremony was held over the weekend at the Illinois State Police Academy in Springfield.
“On Friday, October 11, the officers were patrolling the 1300 block of East Williams Street in Danville and they witnessed a vehicle driving erratically and going well above the speed limit.”
A teacher in Iroquois county was arrested Thursday on charges of grooming her students and showing them inappropriate images.
“By sending the alarm signal over ASAP, information like the customer’s name, address, alarm type, and other details can be instantly transmitted without the need for a telephone call. That translates to valuable seconds being shaved off the time it takes to get first responders dispatched,” said METCAD 9-1-1 Deputy Director Jeff Wooten.

The Equity & Engagement Department, Community Safety & Justice Division hosted a Blueprint partner meeting earlier this week.
