Units quickly rushed to the scene and found Officer Tatman down. An ambulance arrived to transport Officer Tatman to Mercy Hospital in Urbana. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead on arrival and no perpetrator was ever apprehended for the shooting.
A teenager accused of murdering a Lyft driver in Urbana has been found guilty on all charges.
He is being held in Iroquois County pending an arraignment hearing in court. This investigation is a collaborative effort between the Illinois Attorney General’s Office Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office, the Watseka Police Department, the Iroquois County State’s Attorney’s Office, and ISP.
The retail theft happened on October 21, at approximately 2:21 p.m. at a Dick’s Warehouse at 63 East Marketview Drive in Champaign. The male suspect entered the Dick’s and headed immediately to the footwear department.
Urbana police officers responded on Saturday at 4:30 to the intersection of Busey Ave. and Park St. for a shooting with injuries. Officers learned that the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident that took place east of Five Points that continued to Busey & Park.
The event happened on November 15 at approximately 9:48a.m. after Sheriff’s Detectives received information that Tyler Abbott, 34 years of age and a convicted felon, was in possession of multiple firearms.

Urbana High School (UHS) officials arrested 24-year-old Malique Hyde at the school Thursday after allegedly observing him carrying a firearm.
