Compass Casting and Bokeh Background Casting will host a Photo Open Call at Parkland College on May 3, seeking a wide range of talent for a packed summer slate. The call is open to all, regardless of acting experience, and participation is quick and easy.
The celebration will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Workers took down the 28-year-old PrairiePlay on March 2024 to begin construction on the new, inclusive and accessible playground for the community. The playground opened in October of 2024. Urbana parks will be celebrating the first spring and summer of the new PrairiePlay.
The Parkland Orchestra will be performing on Sunday, May 11 at 3:00 p.m. at Centennial High School’s Aldridge Auditorium. The Champaign Park District is excited to announce that Elvis Costello & The Imposters, with special guest Charlie Sexton, will perform live at the Virginia Theatre in downtown Champaign on Tuesday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m.
“It introduces them to professional practices they will encounter in their field, such as working with a gallery, preparing their work for exhibition, and engaging in the jurying process – all essential for an emerging artist,” said gallery director Lisa Costello. “This is necessary for resume building and establishing themselves as practicing artists once they graduate in their career program or transfer to a four-year college.”
