UIUC welcoming back ACES Family Academies workshops this summer

“Participating in ACES Family Academies with my daughter was such a meaningful experience — both as an alum and as a parent,” said Rocky Lacey-Nelson (B.S. ’97), ACES Alumni Board President. “It was incredible to see her curiosity sparked by the same college that shaped my own path. This program creates lasting memories and opens young eyes to the power of learning and discovery. We had a fantastic time last year, and we’re excited to come back!”

Champaign-Urbana marks Earth Day with March for Science and People’s Science Fair

On Earth Day, the Champaign community came together for the March for Science, beginning at the Alma Mater at 3 p.m. and concluding at Lincoln Square Mall with the People’s Science Fair from 4-6 p.m. The family-friendly event highlighted local science initiatives and encouraged the public to engage in protecting and supporting science.

Chick-fil-A lets Illinois students kick for free season tickets

The kicks will take place toward the south goal post on the field at Memorial Stadium. Check-in for students will be in the northwest tunnel of Memorial Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m. Students are required to fill out the RSVP here and be a 2025 season ticket holder to participate. University of Illinois i-cards will be required for check-in.

International students across Illinois facing sudden visa revocations

“I had a couple of students in my office — they don’t want their names to be known — but they told me that there is absolute alarm about what can happen. One student was taking an after-dinner walk and a car just sat there with its lights on for 15 minutes. The student was actually afraid they may be picked up by ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] like the Tufts student,” Kapur said.

The grand opening will feature company leadership and a welcome from university, city representatives. The event takes place on Wednesday, April 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m at 2021 S. First Street, Champaign, on the Second Floor. Remarks and ribbon cutting will take place at 4:00 p.m.

UIUC staff and academic professionals receive Chancellor’s Staff Excellence Award

This award recognizes exceptional performance at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. A committee for the award recommends finalists approved by Illinois Chancellor Robert Jones. The recipients receive $1,500 and a commemorative award. Two staff members are recognized in eight of the functional categories.

UIUC celebrates 100 years of George Huff Hall

Huff hall went on to host a series of sporting events for volleyball, wrestling, basketball, fencing, swimming and much more. On top of the sports competition, Huff also held graduation ceremonies, campus dances, concerts and entertainment shows, and intramural competition. It was also home to the “Original March Madness” during the Illinois High School Association state basketball tournaments from 1926 through 1963.
