Illinois basketball secured a major addition Monday morning as Andrej Stojakovic officially committed to the Illini. The announcement came just 30 minutes after his decision.
A total of five former Illinois football players will have a shot at the NFL this summer, with one selected in the draft and four others signing undrafted free agent deals or receiving rookie minicamp invites.
With Tuesday’s commitment from Serbian guard Mihailo Petrovic, the Illini now have four players from the Balkans set to join the roster for the 2025-26 season — a sign of the program’s expanding international appeal.
As an “Average Joe” sports fan, I will not be performing a deep dive research effort into past NBA Play-In Tournament participants and results, but I’ll guess that the Bulls and Pacers have not been a part of prior play-in tournaments.
The kicks will take place toward the south goal post on the field at Memorial Stadium. Check-in for students will be in the northwest tunnel of Memorial Stadium beginning at 3:30 p.m. Students are required to fill out the RSVP here and be a 2025 season ticket holder to participate. The Illinois Fighting Illini women’s basketball program is set to gain serious firepower for the 2025-26 season with the addition of two highly touted guards: Aaliyah Guyton and Maddie Webber. Head coach Shauna Green announced the signings as part of the program’s ongoing efforts to elevate its presence in the Big Ten.
“When we began the search for our State Finals Host, we narrowed our list down to a few locations. Ryan and his team were responsive, willing to accommodate all our needs, and demonstrated a deep passion for the sport. Though farther than previous locations, we feel the space, playing surfaces, and amenities – among other things – make the trip and further travel for some of our teams worthwhile. This is a great opportunity for us to expand our geographic reach, and get more people playing, watching, and enjoying the sport. We couldn’t be happier with our decision and are looking forward to a long term, strategic partnership with the Rantoul Family Sports Complex, the Village of Rantoul, and Champaign County”, said Sal Carfagno, President of Rugby Illinois when asked about the Union’s thoughts on hosting in Rantoul.”
Illinois basketball has secured its first commit from the transfer portal, with Zvonimir Ivisic announcing his decision to join the team. His twin brother, Tomislav Ivisic, also confirmed his return to the Orange and Blue, much to the excitement of fans.
Huff hall went on to host a series of sporting events for volleyball, wrestling, basketball, fencing, swimming and much more. On top of the sports competition, Huff also held graduation ceremonies, campus dances, concerts and entertainment shows, and intramural competition. It was also home to the “Original March Madness” during the Illinois High School Association state basketball tournaments from 1926 through 1963.
