he Champaign Police Department (CPD) was on hand for an informal and engaging “Coffee With a Cop” event at the Mad Goat coffee shop in Champaign. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen relationships between officers and residents by providing an opportunity for open dialogue in a relaxed environment.

In an effort to maintain student safety and awareness, the university has shared the information while refraining from providing specific details that could identify the survivor. Public Safety officials emphasized that these alerts aim to encourage vigilance, student safety, and the prevention of future incidents.

Coffee With a Cop is a community engagement initiative hosted by the CPD. The event allows members of the community to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know officers in the community with no agendas or speeches. It is designed to bring officers and community members together in a relaxed informal setting over a cup of coffee. The event will be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
