The Eastern Illinois Foodbank (EIF) has announced its upcoming “Foodmobile” food distribution events for Champaign County in May 2025. On Tuesday, May 6, the Foodmobile will visit southern Champaign County, followed by a visit to northern Champaign County on Friday, May 9.
As part of National Volunteer Appreciation Week, Cunningham Children’s Home is shining a spotlight on the exceptional volunteers who have become an integral part of their mission. These dedicated individuals play a crucial role in helping the organization provide vital services to children in need.
“Road workers are out there repairing and maintaining the highways we drive every day to make them safer for us,” said ISP Director Brendan F. Kelly. “Be a decent human being and respect them and the work they do by slowing down and giving them room so everyone can go home safely.”

Danville Police have arrested 44-year-old Shane A. May in connection with the murder of Monty Peplow, following an eight-hour investigation that began with a call about a deceased individual in a home on the 700 block of Sherman Street.
The ramp in Champaign is temporarily closed due to an oversize load that slid off the roadway onto the shoulder. A recovery is currently in progress. The closure is predicted to last less than two hours.
Park Avenue will be closed between Randolph Street and the entrance to Hickory Point Bank. The closure will be from Wednesday, April 23 through Saturday, April 26. This will be done in order to facilitate Ebertfest 2025 at the Virginia Theater. Numerous temporary street closures will also occur in order to facilitate Illinois Race Weekend activities. The closures will begin Thursday, April 24 through Saturday, April 26.
February 26, 2025, ISP located a stolen Kia and attempted a traffic stop on I-94 southbound at 76th Street in Chicago, but the Kia fled. The Kia parked at Maple Avenue and Campbell Road and six occupants ran from the vehicle. ISP took all six occupants into custody.
The Champaign County Executive’s office began phase one of moving into downtown Urbana earlier today. After years of planning and renovation, Champaign County officials are finalizing preparations to move into the newly refurbished Scott M. Bennett Administrative Center, formerly known as County Plaza.
