A local foundation dedicated to fire safety is set to expand its mission thanks to a major state grant. The Christian Sheehan Smoke Alarm Foundation, named after a Champaign man who tragically died in a 2016 house fire, has been awarded up to $50,000 to continue providing free smoke and carbon monoxide detectors to the community.
The two-vehicle collision occurred near milepost 167 on the westbound side of I-74, close to Mansfield. Emergency personnel responded to the scene where one individual was pronounced dead. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
