March is Problem Gambling Awareness Month — and also happens to be the month when the NCAA Tournament for men and women’s college basketball is held. A 22-year-old Champaign man is once again facing first-degree murder charges, just two years after being acquitted of a similar charge. Zaire Herman, who was previously cleared in the 2023 fatal shooting of a man, now stands accused of killing another individual in a shooting on Sunday afternoon.

There will also be a closing reception from 5:30–7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24.
Champaign County Coroner, Laurie Brauer, has identified the victim of a fatal motor vehicle crash on Interstate 74 in Vermilion County. Isaiah Edmond, 35, of Indiana, was pronounced dead at 5:27 AM on March 18, at the Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department in Urbana.
Illinois community colleges have experienced a record enrollment growth in the spring semester, with total enrollment reaching over 285,000 students, marking an 8.9% increase compared to last year.
