SPRINGFIELD, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Police (ISP) is set to host its first-ever all-women recruitment event on March 18, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the ISP Academy. The event, titled “Meet the Women in ISP: A Career Exploration,” aims to encourage women to explore the wide range of career opportunities available within the ISP, both as sworn police officers and civilian employees.

This groundbreaking event is part of ISP’s ongoing commitment to increase female representation within its ranks. The agency has joined the 30X30 Initiative, a coalition of police leaders, researchers, and professional organizations that focus on advancing the experiences, representation, and well-being of women in policing agencies. The initiative has gained attention due to the current gender disparities in law enforcement: according to the U.S. Department of Justice, only 14% of full-time sworn officers and 11% of first-line supervisors in local police departments are women.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet ISP professionals working in various divisions such as patrol, criminal investigation, forensic services, and telecommunications. Additionally, representatives will discuss civilian job opportunities in fields such as computer crimes, human resources, criminal intelligence, accounting, evidence technology, and more.

In addition to sworn law enforcement positions, ISP offers a wide variety of civilian employment options, ranging from forensic science and IT roles to positions in human resources, logistics, and even firearms eligibility analysis.

Women interested in sworn officer positions or learning more about ISP’s training academy can visit ISP’s website. For civilian employment opportunities, interested individuals are encouraged to visit the State of Illinois’ job portal at Work for Illinois.
