CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation, in collaboration with local Jewish organizations and academic partners, will host a special screening of the powerful documentary SATURDAY October 7th on May 6, at 5:00 p.m. The event will take place at the University of Illinois Psychology Building, Room 23, located at 603 E Daniel Street.
The 1-hour film presents gripping firsthand testimonies from seven survivors of the October 7, 2023, Hamas massacre in Israel. Their stories—ranging from a schoolteacher to a young woman at a music festival—offer a haunting yet essential look into the brutality they endured and the resilience they embody today.
“This film is a testament to their courage,” said Ma’ayan Weinberg, Executive Director of the Champaign-Urbana Jewish Federation. “More people need to see and understand what Hamas did to innocent people on October 7th. We have a responsibility to share these stories.”
Following the screening, a live Q&A will feature survivor Guido Kohan and Monique Beadle, the film’s Executive Producer. The event is co-sponsored by Illini Chabad, Illini Hillel, Sinai Temple, and the UIUC Program in Jewish Culture and Society.
Organizers emphasize that the film serves not only as a memorial to the victims and survivors but also as a counter to misinformation and denial surrounding the attack.
This screening is made possible through the Jerusalem Institute of Justice, which supports victims of terrorism and works to combat anti-Israel bias internationally. Community members are encouraged to attend, bear witness to these testimonies, and take a stand against hate by engaging in this important dialogue.
