MONTICELLO, IL (Chambana Today) — The 4-H Memorial Camp in Monticello is marking a major milestone — 75 years of building memories, friendships, and life skills for thousands of Illinois youth. To honor the occasion, Illinois 4-H is hosting a special celebration on Saturday, July 19, 2025, and inviting former campers, staff, alumni, and community members to join the festivities.
Located within the scenic Robert Allerton Park, 4-H Memorial Camp has been a staple of youth development since 1949, offering kids ages 8 to 16 the chance to explore the outdoors through activities like archery, boating, arts and crafts, STEM projects, and more.
The anniversary celebration kicks off with a free open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring hands-on activities, historical exhibits, camp tours, and memory-sharing stations. Lunch will be available for purchase, and no registration is required for the daytime event.
The evening program — which includes a catered dinner, alumni reflections, and a classic campfire with songs and s’mores — is limited to 150 guests and requires advance registration.
“This anniversary is more than a milestone — it’s a homecoming,” said Niki Hoesman, assistant camp director. “For 75 years, this camp has shaped generations of young people and created a community that lasts far beyond summer.”
Tickets and more information are available on the 4-H Memorial Camp website.
