CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Champaign Fire Department responded to a fire outside a single-family home in the 600 block of North James Street on Monday, July 7, at approximately 4:25 p.m. Fire crews arrived swiftly and were able to bring the fire under control before it spread into the residence.
The call came from an occupant who reported flames outside the rear of the single-story home. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered moderate smoke and immediately deployed a single hose line. Their quick action prevented the fire from extending into the structure.
No injuries were reported among firefighters or occupants. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
