HOOPESTON, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois Department of Transportation announced that Illinois 9 from east of Hoopeston to near the Indiana State line in Vermilion County will close starting July 28.

The closure is necessary for culvert repairs among other work and is expected to last about two weeks. A detour will be posted.

Motorists can expect delays and should compensate for travel through this area taking more time. To avoid the work area, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices while driving, and be alert for workers and equipment.
