CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Parkland College’s music ensembles will present four upcoming performances as part of their spring 2026 concert season.
The Concert Band and Parkland Orchestra will share the stage Sunday, May 3, at 3 p.m. in the Harold and Jean Miner Theatre on campus. The Concert Band, directed by Dr. Matthew Dixon, will perform a patriotic program titled “America 250,” featuring works by Brahms, Holst, and Eric Whitacre. The Orchestra, directed by Dr. Rodney Mueller, will perform selections including Mozart’s Fourth French Horn Concerto, with Brian Lauthen as soloist, alongside works by Sousa, Morton Gould, and a narrated performance of “Casey at the Bat” with Vince Trouth.
The Parkland Guitar Ensemble, directed by Dr. Young Kim, will perform twice. The first show is Wednesday, May 6, at 6 p.m. at Parkland’s Second Stage Theatre. The second is Sunday, May 10, at 2 p.m. at the Urbana Free Library. The program includes works by Bach, Yiruma, Coldplay, and Brazilian composer Celso Machado.
