CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) — Students from Champaign Unit 4 achieved the program’s highest finish in history at the Illinois State ACES Competition, earning third place overall at the statewide academic challenge in engineering and science.

ACES tests students across seven subject areas including biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering graphics, and English. Team scores are determined by combining the top two scores in each subject area.

Three Unit 4 students earned top individual honors at the state level. Aaron Rubico took first place in both chemistry and engineering graphics, Tommy Rasmussen finished second in biology, and Lynn Kim earned third in English.

The third-place finish marks the best result in the program’s history.
